Professionals Profiles

The Golf Academy at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club is staffed by four fully qualified PGA Professionals.

Simon Mees
Head Academy Professional

Simon’s love for the game of golf developed at an early age. Introduced to the game by his grandfather and cousins at the age of nine, he wasted no time in developing his skills on some of the finest links golf courses in Scotland around the Edinburgh region.

His professional career started at the age of seventeen at Kilspindie G.C a very small private members club only a stones throw away from what he describes as his favourite course, Muirfield. After seven years at Kilspindie Simon felt it was time to broaden his horizons and after been offered a teaching professional position at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club decided it was as good a time as any.

Simon joined the Creek in 1999 and became Head Academy Professional in 2004. Relishing ever minute of his work at the Club, Simon has continually developed his teaching skills whilst taking every opportunity to pass on his knowledge of the game to complete beginners and seasoned scratch golfers alike.

Stephen Hubner
PGA Professional

Stephen is 26 years old and comes from Glasgow in Scotland. He started playing golf when he was only five years old and became a member of Caldwell Golf Club at the age of eight.

Stephen enjoyed a good amateur career, winning representative honours at junior national level before moving on to perform well in senior county golf. He joined the professional ranks in October 2002 with a handicap of +1 and began his PGA training at the popular Eastwood Golf Club just south of Glasgow. This busy members club was the ideal place for Stephen to enhance his coaching skills and most of his time was spent working on developing junior golf in the area.

In 2004, Stephen became Head Coach to Renfrewshire county under-18 squad and in 2005 graduated from the PGA training academy. Stephen has been working at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club for a year and a half and relishes the challenges his role brings. He is delighted to have been given the opportunity to work at such a fantastic resort and looks forward to continuing to help both members and visitors improve their golf and increase their enjoyment.

George Kasparis
PGA Professional

Having spent the first ten years of his life in Cyprus, George knew golf only as a strange sport played exclusively by expatriates and soldiers within the secured areas of the British Military bases. After moving to Scotland, he discovered that golf was in fact a pastime of youngsters. It was not long before George discovered Caldwell Golf Club, his local course, where he played competitively until the age of eighteen.

George’s professional career then started at Ranfurly Castle Golf Club where he remained for one year before moving to the busy seaside course and Open qualifying venue of Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club. It was here that George developed his teaching skills, providing lessons to golfers of all levels.

From the west coast of Scotland, George moved back to Cyprus where he was heavily involved in junior development, affiliated to the Golf Federation of Cyprus. His experience of teaching in the Mediterranean climates was to prove useful for his next move.

Now settled in Dubai as one of Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club’s fine team of teaching professionals, George looks forward to the busy and challenging season ahead.

Mike Kinloch
PGA Professional

Born in St. Andrews, Mike has spent most of his life at the home of golf. Introduced to the sport at the age of 12 when he joined St. Andrews Golf Club, he has enjoyed and played the game ever since.

On turning Professional in 1999, Mike joined the golf staff at the Old Course Hotel Golf Resort & Spa St. Andrews, where he was based at the award winning Dukes Course. He successfully completed his PGA training at the Dukes and won the prestigious Scottish Trainee Professional of the year award in 2003.

At the end of 2005, Mike was recruited by PGA Golf Management to assist in the opening of Kuwait’s first grass golf course, Sahara Golf & Country Club. Having enjoyed his first taste of life in the Middle East, Mike is delighted to have joined the outstanding team of professionals at Dubai Creek.

Mike has great experience in teaching golf to players of all ages and abilities, and having arrived in Dubai, he looks forward to meeting and helping all the Club’s members and guests with their golf games.

Cyril Rozes
PGA Professional

Originating from Bordeaux in the south west of France, Cyril was introduced to the game of golf at the age of sixteen by his father, who noticed that he had a wonderful natural feel for the game. Soon after, Cyril joined the popular Golf Bordelais course and spent most of his time there developing his skills.

After only three years of playing, Cyril obtained a handicap of scratch and decided to join the Professional ranks. He achieved his PGA qualification at the age of twenty and began playing on both the French Tour and European Challenge Tour.

For the next four years Cyril gained fantastic experience playing in events throughout Europe. He then left France and moved to the remote island of Tahiti in French Polynesia where he became the national coach for the South Pacific Games.

After eight years developing his coaching techniques in Tahiti, Cyril came to Dubai and joined the team of Professionals at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. He has enjoyed his time at The Creek and is looking forward to another busy season helping people of all abilities to improve their golf and to have fun whilst doing it.
